Our laboratory is part of the Developmental Neurobiology Unit of the Instituto de Neurociencias (IN) of Alicante, a joint research center by the Spanish Research Council, Consejo Superior de Investigaciones Científicas (CSIC), and the Universidad Miguel Hernandez. The Institute is located within San Juan de Alicante village (8 kilometers from Alicante downtown) and very close to beautiful beaches along Costa Blanca coast. The IN is one of the best Neuroscience institutes in Europe that includes several stat-of-the-art equipments and facilities. Among these common facilities, we should emphasize: a fully equipped organotypic and cell culture rooms, experimental embryology rooms, confocal microscopes (inverted and upright), a 2-photon microscope and a new SPF transgenic mouse facility. Within the IN are both well-established scientific groups as well as several young group leaders. The way the IN is organized with all groups within the same building, with shared facilities and common areas for lunch and recreation constitutes a very exciting environment to work in and provides a natural atmosphere for interactions.
