Ph.D program

Description |
Postgraduate training has been a permanent activity of the Institute of Neuroscience.
Given the high interdisciplinary nature of modern neuroscience, newly trained researchers
require an understanding of several fundamental disciplines of biology, (biochemistry,
molecular and cellular biology, genetics) as well as those more specific to neurobiology
(neuroanatomy, neuropharmacology, neurophysiology or systems neurobiology) The postgraduate
training programme of the Institute integrates a theoretical and practical approach
to the diverse methodologies used to study the nervous system. The programme is
designed to stimulate the initiative and abilities of the students, helping to orient
the development of their scientific careers.
As part of the learning activities, students must participate in scientific seminars
given by international lecturers and researchers in which original research is presented,
and discussion of current neuroscientific themes is encouraged.
The IN Neurosciences Doctorate Programme belongs to the Network of European Neuroscience
Schools (NENS) and Spanish Network of Doctorate Programmes in Neuroscience which
allow for the interchange of students and lecturers between their respective members.
The Programme has received 'Quality Approval' status from the Ministry of Education
and Science.
A number of four year PhD fellowships, through the JAE and Consolider Initiatives
of the CSIC, are available for students of the programme.
